After two incredibly busy months, March is a more subdued affair when it comes to new releases. That doesn't mean that there aren't some big games to get excited for, but in comparison to February and its main-event debuts--like the rare leap-year release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on February 29--March provides some welcome breathing space.

Some of the highlights this month include WWE 2K24, a game that has been overshadowed by recent controversies at the home of powerslams and RKOs hailing from outta nowhere. This year's Wrestlemania Showcase looks like a fun trip down memory lane, and with Wrestlemania 40 looking to be one of the biggest live events in WWE history, it'll be fascinating to explore the matches responsible for defining the showcase of the immortals.

Nintendo fans can also look forward to Princess Peach Showtime and Unicorn Overlord this month, and on the PlayStation side, Team Ninja is back with a hack-and-slash-and-shoot journey across Japan during a pivotal era of change in Rise of the Ronin.

The Mobius Machine (PC) - March 1

Metroidvania fans looking for a take on the genre might want to keep their eyes on The Moebius Machine, as this new game kicks off March with its sci-fi aesthetics, big boss fights, and an emphasis on blasting your way out of a tough situation. A 2D adventure game with 3D visuals, you'll explore the land, oceans, and skies of the Isolaria moon while battling the local fauna, infected colonists, and abandoned machines.

The Outlast Trials (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) - March 5

The next Outlast game is putting a multiplayer spin on its hide-or-flight gameplay, as you'll be testing your stealth abilities with fellow players in this co-op experience. There's more to The Outlast Trials than a lethal game of hide-and-seek, and as you venture further inside the Murkoff Corporation's compound to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control, you'll be given opportunities to create a more durable survivor. Having originally launched in Steam early access last year for PC, this release of the game will be its full 1.0 launch when it lands on that platform and consoles.

Unicorn Overlord (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch) - March 8

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Odin Sphere fans can get excited for a new game from Vanillaware this month, as Unicorn Overlord looks like an interesting tactical-RPG. Set in a vibrant fantasy world, you'll be able to recruit dozens of unique units to your growing army, perform heroic deeds, and master a deep battle system in this visually enchanting adventure.

Let's get ready to rumble! WWE games have been in a much better space since the series came back after a year-long hiatus in 2022, and this year's entry in the annual series is looking to build on the strengths of a reinvigorated franchise. An updated roster and new match-types will be featured in the game, as you'll be able to clobber your opponents in Ambulance Matches and Backstage Brawls this year. For fans looking to take a trip down memory lane, this year's Showcase Mode focuses on Wrestlemania. You'll be able to play through 21 significant Wrestlemania matches from its 40-year history, reliving pivotal moments along the way.

Outcast: A New Beginning (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) - March 15

Outcast: A New Beginning (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) - March 15

Sure, it might have taken almost 25 years to happen, but at long last a sequel to Outcast is arriving this month. Continuing the adventures of Cutter Slade on the alien planet of Adelpha, the new Outcast features some of the original game's talent leading its development, an open world to explore, and a jetpack for some aerial anarchy when he faces off against the invasion force of robot colonizers.

Alone in the Dark (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) - March 20

A few delays later, Alone in the Dark is finally ready to serve up some fresh scares in March. A psychological third-person horror game, you'll face devious puzzles, ghoulish threats, and a sinister force as you explore Derceto Manor. There's also some star power attached to this project, as the characters of Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby are played by Jodie Comer and David Harbour, respectively.

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Collection (PC) - March 21

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Collection (PC) - March 21

Sony has stuck to its plan to maintain a two-year gap for ports of its biggest first-party PlayStation games, and this month, it's time for Horizon Forbidden West to venture out from PS5 to PC. Not only can PC fans of Horizon Zero Dawn expect a good-looking sequel, they'll also be getting the Burning Shores expansion to experience in this complete collection. On a technical level, the game will also have unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings, and ultrawide support.

Dragon's Dogma 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) - March 22

Dragon's Dogma 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) - March 22

One of the biggest releases of March, Dragon's Dogma 2 is a return to the realm of fantasy. Like the original Capcom game, you'll have plenty of freedom to define your own playstyle with classes like the Wayfarer Vocation offering even more flexibility. With the return of the Pawn system, challenging combat, and a new fantasy world inspired by medieval paintings, Dragon's Dogma 2 is shaping up to offer a magical experience in March.

Princess Peach: Showtime (Switch) - March 22

Princess Peach: Showtime (Switch) - March 22

Move over Mario, because for the first time in nearly two decades, Princess Peach is taking charge in this month's big Nintendo game. After paying a visit to Sparkle Theater, Peach's day out gets interrupted by Grape and the Sour Bunch when they take over the location. What's a princess to do? Defend her subjects, that's what! Not only is Peach a powerhouse in her game, but she's also able to use different skills and weapons when she dons theaterical clothing, with some of the potential transformations including Swordfighter Peach, Detective Peach, and Patisserie Peach.

Rise of the Ronin (PS5) - March 22

Ninja Gaiden and Nioh developer Team Ninja has made a name for itself over the years with its polished action games, and this year, the studio is preparing to unsheathe a history lesson in Rise of the Ronin. Set during a time of civil war and turbulent change for Japan, Rise of the Ronin will put you in control of a nameless warrior in this open-world game. Not only will you be able to meet historical figures and forge your own destiny, but you'll also be able to wield swords and guns in this Bakumatsu period adventure.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might consume all your waking hours in March, but for a more classic return to the RPG streets of yesteryear, there's always The Legend of Legacy HD. Remastered in high-definition, this version of the game includes a new guidebook function to help newcomers get started on their quest, seven characters to lead your adventure, and powerful spirit arts to use in battle as you challenge the legend of Avalon.

South Park: Snow Day (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch) - March 26

South Park: Snow Day (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch) - March 26

While the previous South Park games were 2D affairs, Snow Day is giving the series a 3D makeover and is shifting the action from single-player to co-op multiplayer. Once again, you'll be the new kid in town who find themselves caught up in the latest fantasy escapades of Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny. School has been closed for the day thanks to a massive blizzard, factions are running rampant in the snowy wastelands, and it's up to you to save the world from an endless winter.
