Gaming June 12 Will Probably Be a Big Day for Assassin's Creed Fans

With the relatively recent releases of Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Nexus, many fans may be curious as to when news regarding future games will come. There are rumors that Assassin's Creed Red will release sometime in 2024, after all, and that means news about it has to come relatively soon. Luckily, fans can reasonably mark June 12 as a big news day for the franchise. It's not confirmed yet, but the safest bet is an Assassin's Creed-focused Ubisoft Forward taking place on that date.

Recently, Geoff Keighley confirmed his Summer Game Fest event for June 7, meaning fans can reasonably expect the first two weeks or so of the month to be covered in gaming news. It remains to be seen what a lot of companies will do, but the past few years have seen Ubisoft host its own event called Ubisoft Forward. Assassin's Creed news has come from several of these, and that pattern isn't likely to change this year.

Ubisoft Forward Will Wield a Hidden Blade

If a Ubisoft Forward happens in June, it will likely take place on June 12. It seems Ubisoft likes this date for whatever reason, having hosted a Ubisoft Forward on June 12 in 2020, 2021, and 2023. The gaming giant has also hosted events in September, but June 12 has been a mainstay in every year except 2022. In 2022, there was a Skull and Bones-focused Ubisoft Forward released in early July, serving as an exception to the rule.

As a result, Ubisoft may decide to do something different with its event this year, but that feels unlikely. It was recently reported that Ubisoft was going "all-in" with its Assassin's Creed franchise, thanks to its continued success. Ubisoft not featuring AC at its Ubisoft Forward is even less likely if Assassin's Creed Red does release in 2024, but that doesn't mean it would be the only game on the stage. With all the Assassin's Creed games in development, it stands to reason fans will get a more intensive look than that. This is just speculation, of course, but it should be a good day even if AC Red is the only one to take the stage.

According to various rumors, reports, and confirmations, Ubisoft has around 9 Assassin's Creed games in development, most of which will be housed in a hub called AC Infinity. Of the below titles, the most likely fans will hear about are Jade, Red, and Hexe, but fans shouldn't also rule out confirmation of the rumored Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake.
  • Assassin's Creed Jade
  • Assassin's Creed Red
  • Assassin's Creed Hexe
  • Assassin's Creed Invictus
  • Assassin's Creed Nebula
  • Assassin's Creed Raid
  • Assassin's Creed Echoes
  • Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake
Assassin's Creed Nexus 2, a sequel to the VR game, was reportedly in discussion at Ubisoft ahead of Nexus' actual release. However, it is believed to be on ice after the "disappointing" sales of AC Nexus .

Assassin's Creed Red

Assassin's Creed Red is believed to be the furthest game along in development, with Ubisoft's early 2024 financial report confirming it will release between April 2024 and March 2025. Many believe this means a fall 2024 release date, given the franchise's penchant for October and November. All that has really been confirmed about the game, though, is a Feudal Japan setting. The title otherwise stands ready for a big blast of news.

That said, there are plenty of rumors and purported leaks about Assassin's Creed Red. Some of the most interesting include the following:
  • Two protagonists
    • A female Shinobi named Naoe, a female Shinobi related to the real-world Fujibayashi Nagato
    • An African samurai named Yasuke (a real-world figure)
  • Gameplay features: use and extinguishing of torches, a Grappling Hook, an enemy posture meter, a bigger map than Valhalla but smaller than Odyssey, dynamic weather, and enemy commanders that can be recruited as spies.
  • An Overhaul of the parkour system and animations.
  • A customizable Hideout said to be more expansive than AC Valhalla's settlement.
  • Gadgets include bells, smoke bombs, kunai, and shuriken, among other things.
  • Graphics are said to be improved with ray-tracing support.
  • Assassin's Creed Red will reportedly replace modern-day segments with future segments.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake

Ubisoft Singapore is rumored to be working on a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, with the game recently entering production. The latter usually means that fans shouldn't expect much information, and indeed, they really should expect to see anything concrete like gameplay. However, a simple confirmation that this game is in development would send waves through the franchise and would simply be good marketing as the team reveals more of the new games coming too.

Assassin's Creed Hexe

Revealed alongside Assassin's Creed Red is AC Hexe, which is perhaps the most mysterious game in development. Fans have received one trailer so far, one filled to the brim with teases. The codename Hexe (German for Witch), references to Mephisto, and use of the Alphabet of the Magi all point toward a Witch Hunt set in Germany. Another Assassin's Creed Hexe rumor suggests the protagonist will be named Elsa, and she'll be the first solo female protagonist in the franchise. Ultimately, it remains to be seen as this one is seemingly further out than AC Red, but as the next in line, a little more information would not be surprising.

Assassin's Creed Jade

AC Jade is a mobile game set in Ancient China, revolving around the Qin Dynasty complete with classic stealth, parkour, and assassination-focused gameplay, developed and published by Tencent. Reportedly, Assassin's Creed Jade is being delayed internally as Tencent reorganizes its teams, but it would make sense for Ubisoft and Tencent to want some eyes on this game. It's still set to release within the next year or two, in step with the more known-about AC games.

Assassin's Creed Invictus, Nebula, Raid, and Echoes

Invictus, Nebula, Raid, and Echoes are the furthest out and are only known about through simple confirmations or outright rumors, any of which could be false. Fans shouldn't expect any information on these games, but if the rumors are true, they're exciting all the same.
  • Assassin's Creed Invictus - Multiplayer game developed by For Honor devs [CONFIRMED]
  • Assassin's Creed Nebula - A single-player game set in India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean [NOT CONFIRMED]
  • Assassin's Creed Raid - A free-to-player 4-player co-op title with a PvE Focus [NOT CONFIRMED]
  • Assassin's Creed Echoes - Another multiplayer game reportedly in development at Ubisoft Annecy [NOT CONFIRMED]
