A new Atelier Resleriana game was announced at TGS
Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & the Polar Night Liberator is a first for the Atelier franchise: it is free-to-play. It fell into the trap that many mobile games do: too much of one thing, not enough of another. So I raised an eyebrow at the announcement of Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian — but it is described as "completely offline" so that could imply it is a normal, premium Atelier game. It remains to be seen.
Not a lot has been revealed about this new title, but here is the official description so far:
"A new RPG from the Atelier series. A new adventure with new protagonists and an original story in the world of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & the Polar Night Liberator is coming to consoles and PC as a 'completely offline' title. Building on the experiences of the Atelier series while also evolving, we invite you to look forward to another story of Resleriana."
Developed by Gust and published by Koei Tecmo, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2025.
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication launches just in time for Halloween
With an overall Steam score of Very Positive, The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication has done quite well for itself score-wise since it launched in May of this year. It is set to come to consoles just in time for Halloween, promising plenty of spooks for the season. The first-person survival horror adventure game is set at Wen Hua University in Taiwan, known for its folklore and ghost stories. You play as four distinct characters while dealing with the terrifying ghosts, solving puzzles, unearthing a conspiracy, and above all, just trying to survive the night.
Four film students are dead set on resurrecting a decades-old ghost story and decide to film in an infamously haunted building. But the line between fictional and reality blurs once the record button is pressed. You will need to stifle every possible sound so the labyrinth of halls doesn't cause it to echo. You can choose to confront or divert your stalker's attention. The school map will help you find hidden pathways and escape routes. Mind-bending puzzles stand in your way are you gather clues through artifacts and items scattered on campus.
Developed by Softstar Entertainment and published by PQube, The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One on October 24. The PC version is available now.
A hidden object game about photography? Count me in!
Hidden in My Paradise is a cozy hidden-object game about taking photos and decorating. Budding photographer Laly and her fairy companion travel from land to land, finding hidden items and preparing picture-purrfect photo set-ups by lifting, moving, and repositioning plants, animals, and more. The scene concepts are provided by Laly's teacher and are called Snap missions. Hidden treasures can be found in the vibrant rural, urban, and natural landscapes. Peek into buildings to open boxes and move items aside to find goodies.
There is also a Level Editor where you can design your own scenes ("Paradises") for others to search. There are over 900 objects available through the Gacha machine (you can't see it, but I'm rolling my eyes here) by using tickets and coins given to you by the residents of each Paradise. "We want to foster a community of passionate fans of the cozy hidden object games," said Steve Durán, Director and Designer at Ogre Pixel, in a press release. "By bringing in the level editor to spark creativity and empower the community to create new little paradises, there will be endless replayability between l friends and global neighbors!"
Developed and published by Ogre Pixel, Hidden in My Paradise will be released for PC/Mac/Steam Deck via Steam and Nintendo Switch on October 9. A mobile version will also launch at that time, through Crunchyroll.
Check out the action-packed new trailer for Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Doing something new with the series, Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a single nameless hero to the loved 1 vs. 1,000 gameplay format. Last week's new trailer brought us lots of gameplay information, let's get right into it! As the hero, be transported to the heart of Ancient China during a tumultuous time. It's up to you to restore peace and reshape history. During Missions, suppress rebellions or rescue government forces. You'll also have to overcome Skirmishes. Visit various locations to purchase new weapons and encounter characters familiar to the franchise.
Strategy is more important then ever. Use a variety of Tactics to command allies and coordinate forces. Form a Large Force by gathering a lot of soldiers, then deploy Grand Tactics maneuvers. But keep a keen eye out, because your opposition can do the same. In combat, repeated attacks will increase your Bravery, letting you use powerful attacks known as Arts. Arts are unique to each weapon. Strengthen your defence by blocking enemy attacks at the right moment, unleashing powerful ripostes known as "Parry." Some attacks cannot be blocked. Some powerful officers are protected by Resolution, a type of energy. Reduce their Resolution before you launch an Assault attack.
Developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series on January 17.
