The PS5 Pro has arrived, four years after its standard counterpart hit the market. With a hefty price tag of £699.99/$699.99, it's not for everyone. But it's undeniably the most powerful console ever made, boasting nearly 50% more GPU power than the standard PS5 and featuring a cutting-edge upscaling system called PSSR. It also comes with a generous 2TB of storage. But what games should you play to really showcase the PS5 Pro's capabilities?

Although the PS5 Pro is fresh off the production line, over 60 games already take advantage of its extra power. Some stand out more than others, though. We've been busy testing enhanced games since the PS5 Pro's launch, and we've put together a list of the titles that have impressed us the most.

So, if you're one of the lucky few who've snagged a PS5 Pro and want games that truly demonstrate its power, look no further. We'll keep updating this list as we discover more games that blow us away.

1. Alan Wake II

Alan Wake 2 is an outstanding game, but on a standard PS5, its visuals can appear somewhat fuzzy, especially in Performance mode. That's not the case on PS5 Pro. Both Quality and Performance modes are still available, but now with added effects for even more visual impact – Quality Mode even includes ray-traced reflections.

You'll probably still prefer Performance Mode for its smooth 60fps gameplay, but now it looks sharper and cleaner thanks to PSSR's excellent upscaling.

2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth could be our game of the year, and it's even more impressive on PS5 Pro. On a standard PS5, you face a tough choice: Quality Mode with sharp visuals but 30fps, or Performance Mode with smooth 60fps but blurry graphics.

PS5 Pro eliminates this dilemma with Versatility Mode, combining the best of both Quality and Performance Modes. Trust us, experiencing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with crisp, detailed visuals at 60fps is truly amazing.

3. Star Wars Outlaws

Undoubtedly one of the finest Star Wars games ever created, Star Wars Outlaws offers various graphics options on a standard PS5. However, regardless of your choice, the visuals can sometimes appear hazy, particularly in the game's open-world environments.

Fire up the game on PS5 Pro, though, and you'll notice those graphics options have vanished. Instead, Star Wars Outlaws delivers robust performance alongside crisper visuals. The difference is striking: what was once a game with occasional stunning views has transformed into a visual feast. Combined with other post-launch improvements, this truly stands as one of the top gaming experiences on PS5 Pro.

4. The Crew Motorfest

Similar to Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft's The Crew Motorfest features multiple graphics settings on a standard PS5 but eliminates them on PS5 Pro. In its place, it offers enhanced, razor-sharp visuals at a buttery-smooth 60fps, resulting in an absolutely stunning experience.

This is, without question, the most visually impressive open-world racing game available today, aided by its tropical island setting. The scenery is breathtaking, and with a plethora of impressive weather effects and lifelike lighting, you can't help but be awestruck. Who needs Forza Horizon when you've got this?

5. Dead Island 2

We were already pleased when Dead Island 2 launched and proved to be excellent after years in development limbo. Now, with its PS5 Pro enhancements, it's become an even more essential play. Leveraging the extra power of the PS5 Pro and PSSR upscaling, Dead Island 2 looks more impressive than ever before on console.

The increased clarity makes zombie encounters even more unsettling as you slash and stab, creating visible gashes that expose their innards. Meanwhile, blunt attacks realistically shatter bones with greater detail than before. All this unfolds at a silky-smooth framerate, making your gruesome adventures fiendishly enjoyable. Is it one of the best games to showcase your PS5 Pro? Absolutely.

6. Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 already looked fantastic on a standard PS5, but on PS5 Pro, it's even more remarkable. In Fidelity Pro mode, ray-tracing is maximized, delivering more realistic reflections and lighting. You'll also notice higher traffic density in certain areas and more detailed hair rendering. If you own a 120Hz TV capable of VRR, this game not only looks astonishing but performs admirably as well.

For those seeking buttery-smooth gameplay, Performance Pro mode might be your go-to, offering an impressive experience for an open-world title. Regardless of your choice, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 stands out as one of the PS5's finest offerings and a stellar showcase for your PS5 Pro.

7. Resident Evil 4

While anticipating the next main Resident Evil installment, why not revisit a beloved classic in its remade form? We were thoroughly impressed by the Resident Evil 4 remake upon its 2023 release, and we still find ourselves drawn to its Mercenaries mode. Thanks to the PS5 Pro, the game now looks more stunning than ever.

Fire up Resident Evil 4 on PS5 Pro, and you'll discover that Resolution mode with ray-tracing enabled runs smoothly without taxing your console. This enhancement elevates the game's visuals while maintaining responsiveness, especially on 120Hz TVs with VRR capability. For those prioritizing frame rate, the game still looks remarkably polished in Performance mode, with or without ray-tracing.

8. Assassin's Creed Mirage

With Assassin's Creed Shadows pushed to next year, Assassin's Creed Mirage is worth exploring, particularly on a PS5 Pro. Like other Ubisoft titles optimized for PS5 Pro, the previously separate Quality and Performance modes have been merged, resulting in a single mode that blends 60fps gameplay with high-quality visuals.

In fact, Assassin's Creed Mirage goes even further on PS5 Pro, boasting enhanced shadows, superior textures, extended draw distances, and more. These improvements collectively make this the most visually impressive Assassin's Creed game to date, as well as one of the most enjoyable.

9. Dragon's Dogma 2

It's a testament to Dragon's Dogma 2's quality that we were thoroughly engrossed at launch, despite its somewhat lackluster performance. Some might have argued that its visuals weren't particularly striking either. However, with the arrival of the PS5 Pro, that's no longer the case.

Dragon's Dogma 2 now offers a range of visual options, allowing you to find your ideal balance between graphics and performance. On PS5 Pro, we recommend the Balanced setting with ray-tracing on – it's a significant upgrade from the base PS5 in both looks and performance, making the game much more enjoyable. This improvement has us excited to invest many more hours into the game. It's a prime example of how the PS5 Pro can transform a gaming experience, showcasing the console's potential to enhance titles significantly.
