Available from September 12 — the game's launch date, but after the one-week early access period — the Collector Edition can be picked up either as a standalone item or bundled with the top-level Gold Edition of TDUSC for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series formats.
It's a bit of a throwback to pre-digital delivered game limited editions — reminding us a bit of the GT5 Signature Edition — crammed with plenty of physical items to wear or display, along with special packaging and the digital bonuses should you choose that version.
The whole thing comes in a large presentation box, measuring in at 40cm x 30cm x 20cm (approximately 16 x 12 x 8 inches), decorated in the isohypse contour lines of the Hong Kong Island setting for the game.
Within that there's a metal case for the game itself bearing the same markings — whether or not you opt for a version with the game included — and a large, 80cm x 60cm (approximately 31 x 24 inches) map showing the island as represented in the game. We're going to assume that's, sadly, folded up given the dimensions.
The largest display item in the box is a framed model of a Porsche 918 Spyder, at 1:36 scale, also bearing the TDUSC logo and some writing we can't quite make out in the official images. There's a 16-page concept art booklet too.
For those who like to wear their gaming memorabilia out and about there's a 3D-embroidered cap with the Solar Crown logo, made from 260gr/m2 cotton and a pair of cufflinks with the same logo in their own faux-leather case. We guess that symbolizes the gear that the Streets and Sharps clans would wear respectively. You'll also receive a leather and metal keyring with the Solar Crown logo.
There's two curious items in the box, which could serve an in-game purpose but this hasn't been made clear at this point in time. The first is a Solar Crown ceramic casino token, which bears a face value of 100,000 unspecified currency.
More intriguing is the "Solar Club Platinum Member" card, a metallic item which comes with a number out of 2,000 to signify the limited edition set number. We've heard of Silver and Gold Editions of the game, but quite what Platinum means is at this point unknown…
In total there'll only be 2,000 Collector Edition sets across all game versions, with the standalone set priced at $/€199.90 and those with a PC, PS5, or XSX Gold Edition game included coming in at $/€249.90. It should be noted that this represents a $/€30 saving over buying the two items separately.
You can pre-order the version you'd like now on a special section of the Nacon Gaming website, and they're set to land on doormats on September 12 to coincide with the game's full launch.
