A rare Charizard Pokémon card worth up to £30,000 was stolen from a company in Heathfield, East Sussex, UK between September 2-5, 2024.

Sussex Police discovered the stolen card was being listed for sale on Facebook. They executed a search warrant at an address in Polegate, East Sussex and recovered the valuable card.

A 23-year-old man living at the Polegate address admitted to stealing the card and received a police caution. The rare collectible was then returned to its rightful owner in Essex.

PC Alan Russell, who handled the investigation, stated that the card was "a valuable item which meant a lot to the victim."

The Pokémon franchise, which includes beloved characters like Ash and Pikachu, has grown tremendously since its creation in Japan in 1996, with high-profile collectors like YouTuber Logan Paul spending millions on rare cards.
