Well, look at that. Just after grumbling about the slow drip of ActiBlizz games joining Game Pass late last week, the team goes and announces another one - Spyro Reignited Trilogy is hitting the service tomorrow, November 12th. Following the addition of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in August, another set of kid-friendly platformers will soon enter the library - and anyone who played these back in the day will surely adore this new arrival.

We've got a special fondness for the original Spyro trilogy, you know. Sure, it never seemed as big as Crash in the PS1 era, and yeah, some of those later franchise releases were a bit lackluster, but boy - these three games in particular are some fantastic 3D platformers that still hold up today.

We've seen a few minor in-house debates break out at Pure Xbox HQ lately about which of these ActiBlizz series is top dog, and while we never quite agree on the ultimate Activision platforming champ, this little purple dragon definitely deserves his place alongside his more famous bandicoot buddy. Plus, these remasters are stunning, super polished and only further showcase how great Insomniac's original efforts were.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy leans more towards the open-area 'collectathon' side of the platforming world, but these games never went overboard in that aspect. In today's gaming landscape, this trilogy offers a 3D platformer that feels modern to control - you get none of that jarring Crash awkwardness that comes from the different, admittedly more unique viewpoint that Crash uses. Spyro is just good old over-the-shoulder platforming fun, and it'll be super easy to jump back into in 2024.

That's why we think this new Xbox Game Pass addition will be a real blast from the past for those of you who've tackled these platforming adventures before. Spyro Reignited Trilogy plays exactly as you remember the old games playing, and that's great for hopping back in and taking a stroll down memory lane. New players will be welcomed too - we mean it when we say these '90s-born Spyro games still feel fresh today.

So, 3D platformer fans of all stripes would be smart to embrace this latest ActiBlizz Xbox Game Pass addition; we're definitely eager to hear what you all think about it later this week. Spyro Reignited Trilogy at last joins the Xbox Game Pass library on November 12th.

Spyro fans, are you set to revisit your childhood this week? Share your plans below!
