Cocktails and murders. Both are best served cold. And both are major elements in Best Served Cold, a game announced today by Hidden Through Time developer Rogueside. Play as a bartender at a speakeasy where potential suspects and witnesses gather. For the cops to look the other way on the whole illegal alcohol thing, you'll need to serve your customers cocktails to loosen their tongues. That's where the real truth can be found.

Set in the fictional Tzaran capital of Bukovie during prohibition, The Nightcap is one of the few places where locals can drink and be merry. Because of the lack of other bars, The Nightcap has a clientele that spans social classes. As a bartender, your job involves listening to patrons speak openly about their lives and forming bonds with them. However, you can't trust them as far as you can throw them so you'll have to slowly coax out confessions and uncover clues despite the connections that form.

After each day is over, you can find an evidence board (Murder board! Murder board!) filled with the clues you've already collected. Connect clues to make deductions, which you then use to guide your conversations the next day. After your case has been built from the ground up, present your findings to learn whether or not you've solved a series of murders.

The world in Best Served Cold is inspired by the cultural and artistic revival of '20s Bucharest. Your bar, located under an upscale bookstore, allows you to learn about a city where political and economic beliefs are shifting. The old order is fragmented, creating tension—a backdrop that ties in with the lives of your customers and the murder mystery itself.

"We're thrilled to reveal Best Served Cold for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch with our new trailer," said Antje Van den Heuvel, Art Director at Rogueside, in a press release. "We've crafted an atmospheric world filled with fascinating characters that we know players are going to love getting to know as you serve them their favorite drinks, along with an intriguing mystery that's going to hook you in and bring you along for all the twists and turns."

Developed and published by Rogueside, Best Served Cold has been announced for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series.
