Numskull has acknowledged this issue and explained that it is due to the digital nature of their joystick implementation, which is struggling to process the simultaneous left and down inputs required for diagonal movement. They are currently working on a firmware update to address this problem and improve the controls to better match the original arcade experience.
Numskull has assured customers that once this firmware update is released, it should resolve the joystick issues and provide a more authentic "Zoo Keeper" gameplay experience on their Quarter Arcade cabinet.
