Mario & Luigi: Brothership launched on Nintendo Switch yesterday, and overall, folks seem quite pleased with this new sea-based adventure. That's not to say there aren't a few small gripes, of course, as we quickly found out after checking our social media this morning.

Looking beyond the fresh graphics, the charming oddness and the quirky characters, quite a few people appear to be bothered by the game's Bro-specific button fights. Specifically, how Luigi's 'Press B to attack' isn't as simple as it used to be.

The series typically has Mario controlled with 'A' and Luigi with 'B'. You browse Mario's battle menu with one button and Luigi's with the other — easy, right? The same setup is still there in Brothership except for one big change: you now pick Luigi's attacks with 'A', before using them with 'B'.

Sure, it's not a huge shift, but after years of going through the green Bro's menus with a tap of the 'B' button before doing an attack the same way, it can take time to adjust (and we've messed up plenty of Luigi's attacks because of it).

And, clearly, we're not the only ones struggling with our mixed-up muscle memory:

After nine years without a new main series game (yes, we got some remakes during that time), we guess it kind of makes sense to change things up for new players — most people will link 'A' with accept, right? — but it's an understandable complaint for long-time fans of the series.
