SEGA's really gone off the deep end with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. A new info dump and a couple of short gameplay clips reveal what we mean, as they introduce Assassin's Creed-esque naval battles and protagonist Majima's new mythical sea creature special moves.

As was the case in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, there'll be two fighting styles in this spin-off title. The traditional Mad Dog-style will see Majima brawling like a tried-and-true Tojo Clan veteran, while Sea Dog will see him wielding cutlasses and summoning sharks.

The Madness Gauge will allow you to summon doppelgangers in your Mad God guise, while discovering Dark Instruments will allow you to recruit deities such as the aforementioned megalodons in Sea Dog mode. The latter fighting style will also leverage a chain hook, similar to Kiryu's ring in last year's game.

As for the sea battles, well, they look a lot like Assassin's Creed, as we already mentioned. You'll attack your opponents at sea using cannons, and once you've done enough damage, you'll be able to board your rival's ship and beat up their crew. Recruiting shipmates to fight by your side will be an essential part of the game's progression. The coliseum at Madlantis will even feature naval combat.

It all looks a bit, well, mad, then. Obviously you can see the Yakuza footprint here, and how various different systems and mechanics are being recycled. But we're here for our annual dose of Ryu ga Gotoku ridiculousness. Yarrr you in or out?
