The game Honcho is a new kei truck simulator being developed by the independent British studio MinskWorks. The game is set in 1980s Japan and puts players in the role of Keiko, who is trying to build up her recently deceased grandfather's vending machine business.

Gameplay Mechanics:
The core gameplay of Honcho revolves around acquiring, maintaining, and customizing a kei truck, which is the player's primary means of making deliveries and managing the vending machine business. Players will need to purchase their kei truck at auction, then keep it running by repairing and upgrading it as needed. The game features a vehicle wear system that takes into account the condition of the road surfaces. There is also a "driver stress system" that players will need to manage. Beyond the delivery missions, the game has a procedurally generated open world for players to explore in their kei truck.

Graphics and Sound:
Honcho has a warm, retro-inspired art style that evokes the 1980s setting. The game features detailed 3D models of the kei trucks, with realistic physics and crash effects, including shattering glass. The audio design emphasizes spatial audio to immerse players in the driving experience.

Target Audience:
Honcho seems to be targeting a niche audience of players interested in simulation games, particularly those with a fondness for quirky, underrepresented vehicles like the kei trucks of Japan. The game's blend of driving mechanics and business management elements may also appeal to fans of tycoon-style games.
