We've been hearing about Xbox's mysterious Hideo Kojima project for donkey's years now, with the game finally getting properly revealed at last year's The Game Awards showcase. Even with that initial trailer now out in the wild, we still have no idea what 'OD' really is - and now Kojima has come out to tell us that it's "a game like no other". Great, thanks for clearing that up, Hideo.
All jokes aside, the famous game dev has spoken to Variety recently, discussing a whole manner of things including his Xbox project. We'll throw the main quote on this topic down below, but be warned, it's typically cryptic from Mr. Kojima.
"I wanted to do something new that wasn't "Death Stranding," so I teamed up with Microsoft to create "O.D." This is a game, but it's a game like no other. I can't go into too much detail, and it's also hard to explain, but it's a bit risky and a new challenge for me within the realm of games."
Kojima went on to discuss famous film director Jordan Peele's involvement with the game, of 'Get Out', 'Us' and 'Nope' fame. This sounded like a pretty natural coming together for the two creators - Kojima says he explained the concept of the game to Peele, who was subsequently "really interested in it", so the two are now working together on OD. We wish Kojima would provide the same explanation to us!
Earlier this year, the Death Stranding creator also told us that this upcoming Xbox title is "just as different" as any of his past games, so yeah, it sounds like we're in for a bit of a mind-bending adventure when OD finally makes it to market.
