In it, you can see not only Shadow (voiced by Kirk Thornton) but also Maria (Stephanie Sheh), and spoiler alert... Emerl, who originally debuted in the 2003/04 Game Boy Advance title Sonic Battle. Studio Giggex is behind the animation, Ian Flynn is the writer, and the series will be a "three episode prologue" scheduled to arrive this Fall. Here's a look, courtesy of Sonic Stadium:
During the panel, Sonic Head Takashi Iizuka and company showed off a "brief history" of the Shadow the Hedgehog timeline featuring some of the character's pivotal moments in his career ahead of the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations later this year as well as Dark Beginnings. They also discussed the character's creation.
Oh, and don't worry about the exclusion of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and certain other games featuring Shadow the Hedgehog in the timeline above. According to Sega's associate lore manager Chris Hernandez, these games are "still recogonised". Here's what he had to say in a response to fans on social media:
"06 is still recognized! Just couldn't fit everything in and still call it brief (E.g. no mention of Rivals or Forces DLC)...Things get a bit dicey with how 06's story plays out, but trust me the story and characterization are not forgotten"
This first look at the Sonic X Shadow Generations prologue follows a teaser on the official Sonic X Shadow Generations game website earlier this week suggesting a fourth secret playable character could be featured...
