Rockstar Games surprises fans with a big update for the GTA Trilogy remasters on Xbox One and Series X|S. The games have received a bunch of new features and fixes that players can enjoy right away.

The standout addition is "Classic Lighting", which can be turned on in each game's settings. This option aims to recreate the look of the original games more closely. You can check out examples of how this affects all three games below:

The update brings many other improvements too. These include fixes to water and swimming speeds, the ability to run and shoot with certain weapons in GTA 3 and Vice City, and even better-looking clouds!

Interestingly, it seems developer Grove Street Games has been taken out of the startup credits.

While the collection faced criticism at launch, now might be a good time to give it another shot if you're curious. Rockstar's official patch notes only mention "Classic Lighting" and "numerous fixes and improvements", so you might discover even more cool changes as you play.
