The Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are arriving on consoles as midnight passes in each time zone, with a new set of challenges and special rewards for completing them.

This week's party of five includes a one-off event for one of the new vehicles added in the 1.48 update on Thursday, as well as some races that you may need to unlock if you haven't already.

It's the new Volvo V40 that gets special treatment this week, in a four-lap blast around Red Bull Ring. Considering that there's no tuning limitations for the race, it could be a pretty lucrative event if you don't mind the overkill: the win is worth 85,000cr.

Less worthwhile is the two-lap race in the Japanese FR Challenge 450 at High Speed Ring Reverse. You'll need any FR-layout road car from Japan — although the "450" of the name only refers to a suggestion of a 450 Performance Point (PP) car — to race for the 10,000cr pot.

The Lightweight Kei Cup is the first of the two events that will require unlocking unless you have previously done so. It's a three-lap run of the Tokyo Expressway South Clockwise course, with any of the game's Kei cars eligible so long as it's within a 400PP cap. Winning is worth 32,000cr, but it's a slow race.

Two events head to the Nurburgring this week, and the first of those is the European Clubman Cup 600. That's a two-lap race around the fearsome Nordschleife for any road car from any European brand — including Volvo! — and again the 600PP limit hinted at in the name is a mere suggestion. If you do stick with that as a cap (and it is good fun to do so), watch out for the Alfa Romeo Giulia if you want the 125,000cr first prize.

Finally there's the World Touring Car 900 event at the Nurburgring GP circuit, which will also require that you unlock it. It's a ten-lap run for which any car at all is eligible within a hard, 900PP limit. There's some high tire wear at this race, so you'll need to weigh up power and grip; most of the rivals are Gr.2 cars, which are perfect at this level. Take the win and you'll pick up 135,000cr.

This week's rewards are similar to last week's and again well worth going for. You'll earn a Six-Star Parts Ticket for clearing one event, and a 150,000cr ticket for finishing three, but for the second week in a row completing the lot gifts a Six-Star Car Ticket. This guarantees a car worth between 500,000cr and 3.6 million — and can include special Invitation vehicles.

You'll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we'd expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 7.
