There's a treat in store in the latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges, which will become available as your console passes midnight on Thursday evening, by way of a special race that will get you right in the nostalgia.

For those unfamiliar, Weekly Challenges are a curated set of five events, mostly drawn from existing World Circuits races but with the occasional special race created just for the week. Completing the events during the seven-day window gives bonus rewards, as a sweetener.

We're going to start at the end this week, as the Special Event is a humdinger. It takes place at Fuji International Speedway, and bears the name "All Japan GT Car Championship" (despite being just one race), and as you can see from above it's a blast from Gran Turismo's past.

There are actually no restrictions for this ten-lap race so you could in theory race any vehicle you like. However the AI cars in the race are a selection of genuine JGTC race cars, as well as some road cars that raced in the real thing tuned up to suit and all are decorated in special JGTC liveries.

Whether you get into the spirit of the event or not, there's 150,000cr for taking victory (so with the clean race bonus it could be a money-spinner in a Tomahawk X!).

While not quite as richly rewarding, the World Touring Car 600 race at the Nurburgring GP circuit isn't bad for the wallet either. You can use any car under a 600PP limit for this five-lap race, with a first-place prize of 80,000cr.

Circuit de Sainte-Croix B hosts the third race, which focuses on turbo power. You'll need a turbocharged car of any kind, so long as it doesn't break the 700PP cap, and there's 70,000cr for taking the win.

Probably the simplest race this week comes in the Pickup Truck series. You'll need to race either the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or Toyota Tundra TRD Pro — both of which can benefit from an engine swap — over a five-lap sprint around the Daytona Tri-Oval. The win is worth 30,000cr.

That just leaves the lowest-value race this week in the American FR Challenge 550 at Laguna Seca. As the name suggests, you'll need a front-engined, rear-wheel drive road car from a US manufacturer, although the 550 notation is just a suggested Performance Point value. Take the win in the two-lap race to score 10,000cr.

This week's rewards are all cash. Completing one event earns you a 100,000cr ticket, with a 200,000cr ticket for completing three, and a 500,000cr ticket for the clean sweep. Bear in mind that these are tickets that need redeeming from your garage and not straight credit rewards.

You'll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we'd expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 14.
