The latest Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial is now available, giving you two weeks to hot-lap against the best players in the world for a potential 2m credits funnelled into your game coffers.

It's another road car event for you this week, with the thoroughbred Italian event of two weeks back replaced by some slightly wilder horses from the USA. Your steed for the challenge is the pinnacle of American sports cars in the 1980s, in the shape of the ZR-1 model of the Chevrolet Corvette C4.

You can, as usual, borrow a vehicle for the event — in which case it will be fitted with the required Sports Hard tires rather than the standard Comfort Soft — or use one from your own stable. Handily the car is available in the Used Car Dealership right now if you want one, but don't forget that tire requirement.

For this week's event you'll be heading to the modern GT classic fictional race course at Dragon Trail, and the Seaside layout complete with its infamous Chicane of Death. It's quite a slidey recipe, and the you'll need to attack the curbs just right for the best times.

There's potentially a bit of time left on the table here right now, even after the usual suspects have made their early runs. Currently the record time sits at a 1:53.5 (dead on, in fact), but we wouldn't be too shocked to see a flat 1:53 by the end of the two weeks — and if that's possible, someone will no doubt grab a 1:52.9 just to break the barrier. Accordingly you should aim to beat a 1:56.3 to take gold.

Last week's event with the Mitsubishi Lancer Gr.4 car has another week to run, and the current record and gold threshold are getting pretty close to where we expected. At the moment the record is a 1:32.5, so you'll need a 1:35.3 to take gold. There's perhaps a little time left still, so if you can get into the predicted sub-1:35.2 you should net 2m credits when the event ends next Thursday.

In order to access the Online Time Trials, you'll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 ("Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade") in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it's just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.

You'll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure "gold" status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There's smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.

The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday September 19.
