September has rolled around for Forza Motorsport, and Turn 10 is wheeling out Update 12 for all console and PC users.

Dubbed "Mid-Engine Month", the newest update celebrates the most iconic mid-engined cars of past and present.

At 9.1GB on PC and 10.4GB on Xbox Series X, the latest update may be slightly smaller than before, but contains some of the most significant feature additions and changes to gameplay yet.

Let's take an in-depth look at what Update 12 brings.

Turn 10 outlined a number of features and changes in its recent roadmap statement that would be starting from Update 12, with a highly revamped Spectate Mode being introduced.

Available in Private Multiplayer, Spectate Mode includes new features and improvements to benefit league organizers. Features include a Dynamic Driver List and lap counter, a broadcast ticker, an improved control panel, and a customisable HUD.

There are also a couple of new camera options available in Spectate Mode: a Rail Cam to control the camera around the focused car, and a stationary Point of Interest camera at important segments of tracks.

Forza Motorsport Update 12: Other Changes

1725982247300.png

A major change implemented is the addition of customisable weather options for Free Play and Private Multiplayer. Players can select what weather type they want to happen at the start, middle and end of a race, as well as probability options.

Rivals now has all cars running at minimum fuel load, and player cars will automatically be equipped with Soft tires if the car has race tires added.

Several stability and performance issues have been addressed on all platforms, including crashes when selecting a photo or replay, or selecting an unowned DLC car and selecting purchase options.

Featured Multiplayer has the the tire wear scalar reduced from 6x to 4x for Multi-class series and "Long" race events. The 2019 Porsche 935 has also been removed from Forza GT3 and placed in Modern Factory Racecar.

Drivatar AI gets further tweaks to fix pitlane entry for high-powered cars, as well as prevent unexpected swerving at a race start and moving laterally into the player when alongside them on a straight.

Update 12 will run over the next five weeks, with Update 13 available some time in October. Here, players can look forward to the highly anticipated return of Sunset Peninsula.
