First Break Labs is a new collective of industry vets who have worked for major names like SEGA, Nintendo, and Atlus. It brings with it a "refreshing" new indie support model. According to a press release, First Break's goal is to, "carve a new path of supporting groundbreaking games by fostering genuine relationships with the people behind the development teams and focusing on assisting developers directly inspired by a true love for gaming." Alongside the collective's reveal, it announced four signed games that are set to launch during 2024 or 2025.

"Our mission at First Break Labs is to empower indie developers," said Alfonso Cubias, Chief Publishing Officer for First Break Labs. "Some of the most innovative and creative ideas in gaming originate from independent studios. Our goal is to provide them with the resources and support they need to bring their creative visions to life and reach a global audience." Cubias has experience in marketing games from Sonic Mania to Shenmue I & II to Total War: Three Kingdoms.

"We are thrilled to come charging out of the gate with a collective of incredibly talented developers who are hard at work creating the next generation of gaming excellence," said Derek Seklecki, Head of Marketing for First Break Labs. "We can't wait for the world to get to play their future classics, and we'll have even more brilliant titles to announce in the months ahead, so stay tuned." Seklecki has worked in branding for some of the same games as Cubias worked in marketing, such as Sonic Mania and Shenmue I & 2. He's also worked in branding/marketing for titles like Two Point Hospital, Persona 4 Golden, and A Little to the Left.

Developed by Moving Pieces Interactive, Entropy Survivors is a bullet hell – actually, more like bullet heaven – roguelike about a powerful mech and a sharpshooting frog from outer space. The game can be played solo or with a team of two to four players in online co-op.

Developed by Lavabird, Warside is a turn-based tactics game. (It reminds me very strongly of Advanced Wars.)There is a story campaign, multiplayer support, and a map editor. You'll choose a commander, assemble your forces, and battle until victory is in your hands.

Developed by Fermenter Games, Baseless is a gravity-defying, planet-jumping shooter. Shooting equals movement, having you navigate a gravitational environment and destroy your enemies to save your adopted family. Expect charming companions and potent weaponry!

Developed by Underwater Fire, Particle Hearts (pictured in the header image) is a third-person adventure game about travelers exploring a world made up only of particles. You can use special abilities to manipulate particles, solve puzzles, and avoid detection. What role did you have to play in a land so sinister yet so beautiful?
