Purpose

Dream Disc '24 is an exciting new game jam designed to celebrate and reinvigorate the Sega Dreamcast community. This event aims to:

• Foster creativity within the Dreamcast development scene
• Encourage the creation of new, innovative games for the platform
• Bring together Dreamcast enthusiasts from around the world
• Showcase the enduring appeal and capabilities of the Sega Dreamcast

Target Audience

The game jam is open to a diverse range of participants, including:

• Experienced Dreamcast developers
• Newcomers interested in retro game development
• Artists, musicians, and designers passionate about the Dreamcast
• Sega Dreamcast enthusiasts and collectors

No prior game development experience is required, making this an inclusive event for all skill levels.

• Location: Online (with potential regional meetups)

• Participation: Individual or team entries (up to 4 members) accepted

Submission Guidelines

Theme

The theme will be announced at the start of the jam. Participants must incorporate this theme into their games.

Requirements

• Games must be playable on original Dreamcast hardware
• Submissions should be in CDI or GDI format
• Games can be of any genre
• Use of existing engines or frameworks is allowed, but all content must be original

Deadline

All submissions must be uploaded by August 22, 2024, at 23:59 UTC.

Prizes and Recognition

• Grand Prize: Custom Dreamcast console, trophy, and feature on major retro gaming websites
• Runner-up: Rare Dreamcast game collection and digital badge
• Community Choice: Special edition Dreamcast controller and digital badge
• Innovation Award: Dreamcast development kit (for use in future projects)

All participants will receive a digital certificate and have their games featured on the Dream Disc '24 website.
