BioWare's Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks a crucial comeback, but its market impact remains unclear nearly two weeks post-launch. In the UK, the seventh-largest global gaming market, The Veilguard's performance reportedly matched other recent single-player AAA RPGs, performing "almost identically to Dragon's Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth".

With almost two weeks passed, we can reasonably guess The Veilguard hasn't broken sales records, as EA hasn't boasted about impressive figures as publishers often do. However, GamesIndustry.biz's respected chief, Christopher Dring, offered more concrete insights than the anonymous rumors from critics oddly invested in the game's failure.

Dring notes that the key missing pieces (besides hard numbers) are EA's expectations for The Veilguard and its budget. These factors matter because success varies for different publishers, a subtlety often overlooked in direct comparisons. Dragon's Dogma 2, with over 3 million copies sold (2.5 million in week one), is a major win for Capcom, leading to developer bonuses and raises. Conversely, Square Enix used its go-to phrase for Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, stating both "failed to meet expectations" without revealing sales figures.

So where does Dragon Age: The Veilguard stand? We estimate it's somewhere between Square Enix's deep disappointment with recent Final Fantasy titles and Dragon's Dogma 2's 3+ million sales. Our hunch is that if sales topped a million, EA would have announced it, but we'll have to wait and see.

Given the game's high visibility, where do you think Dragon Age: The Veilguard's sales will end up? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
