Yes, we all know the score — Black Myth: Wukong was originally announced to be launching day one on Xbox before it got delayed indefinitely for Microsoft's consoles — and the release date is now just four days away for other platforms.

As we're so close, the first reviews have gone live today across the web, and unexpectedly they're pretty impressive on the whole. There are a few surprising scores as well though, with some not so keen on what it has to offer.

Here are some of the reviews we've spotted for Black Myth: Wukong ahead of its delayed Xbox release:

God Is A Geek (10/10)

"A flurry of sublime combat, intuitive level building, and expert boss design, Black Myth: Wukong is, hands-down, one of this year's best action games."

Hardcore Gamer (9/10)

"Black Myth: Wukong is a phenomenal, enthralling and imaginative experience that's a must-play for anyone who enjoys Chinese mythology."

IGN (8/10)

"As GameScience's debut action game, Black Myth: Wukong is mostly a great success, despite some major technical black marks and localization issues that are likely to cause some frustrations at launch."

GameSpot (8/10)

"Black Myth: Wukong is an uneven game where the highlights often outnumber the lowlights. Its triumphant boss battles and fast-paced combat make up for the stale moments in between, where bland level design and a scarcity of enemies will have you clamoring for the next face-off with a deadly Yaoguai."

Windows Central (3.5/5)

"Ultimately, Black Myth: Wukong is a very solid action RPG with its thrilling cinematic boss fights, diverse, gorgeously rendered locales, rich combat system replete with build options, and well-told story. However, it holds itself back with bland level design and disappointing enemy variety, along with a superfluous gear system and a few noteworthy performance issues."

The Sixth Axis (6/10)

"Black Myth: Wukong is a stunning game to look at, but the exploration is lacking, and the fighting is just sort of fine for the most part. It's just a bit uninspiring, and isn't a game that I'm expecting to stick with me for any length of time now that I'm done with it."

As you can see, despite the very respectable 84 Metacritic average for the PC version as things stand (PS5 codes don't appear to have been distributed as of yet), there are a few grumbles here and there in some of these reviews.

Overall though, it's a successful result for the team at Game Science, and now we're very interested to see how the console version fares when it arrives in a few days' time. After that, we're just waiting for an Xbox announcement!
