A mod for Assassin's Creed Origins has completely changed the way that the game looks, making it look like a newer title in the series.

The mod is described as being a "simple reshade" which changes the colour of the graphical elements in the game, and changes various other features to look more like a game that has only just released rather than a game that released over seven years ago now. It's available on NexusMods now, and even includes a full installation guide for how to easily get the reshaders working.

Assassin's Creed Origins was the first real game in the series to take a closer look at the systems that the series used, delving further and further into RPG territory than previous games. This was a pattern that future games in the series would continue, with the games getting bigger and bigger until last year's Assassin's Creed Mirage decided to make a smaller overall title with less systems that are constantly at play with each other. Curiously, this mod also works with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which means that one mod will help to reshade and upgrade the graphical quality of two different Assassin's Creed games that were released years apart.

The next title in the long-running open-world series is launching later this year, and is set in feudal Japan. Players are given the option of two different playable characters, one of which is much more in-line with the traditional stealth expectations that players might have from the series, while the other playable character has much more in kin with Eivor, the player character from Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and is much more combat-first.
