The hub that will be the new home of the Assassin's Creed games has quietly received its official name and fans are eager to find out exactly what it will entail.

Once known as Assassin's Creed Infinity but will henceforth be called the Animus Hub is a "massive online platform that evolves over time" for the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

First reported in 2021 by Bloomberg, the Animus Hub will feature multiple features and "room to expand" and will be the one-stop place that players can access multiple Assassin's Creed games "both big and small".

To get the hub started, it has been reported that the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows will be the first game added, according to Ubisoft's Marc-Alexis Cote.

The executive producer for all of the Assassin's Creed titles said that the Animus Hub will be a place "from which you can launch different experiences".

Put simply, the idea behind the Animus Hub stems from the original Assassin's Creed titles which would take our modern-day character, Desmond Miles, and put him into a machine that allowed him to revisit and live the life of his assassin ancestors.

So, it can be assumed that the Animus Hub will allow players to replicate this by having them access an Assassin's Creed title from the hub itself.

The project stemmed from fans asking for a "more cohesive approach" to the Assassin's Creed series which isn't surprising considering the Ubisoft series has been ongoing since 2007 and has 13 major instalments.

We don't know much else about the Animus Hub but it will be interesting to see how useful it will be for new players.

Additionally, we can also expect it to launch around the same time as Assassin's Creed Shadows on 12 November.
