CTR: Crash Team Racing is a video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1999. It is the fourth game in the Crash Bandicoot series and features the efforts of Crash Bandicoot, Doctor Neo Cortex, and other characters racing against Nitros Oxide to save Earth from destruction. Players can choose from fifteen Crash Bandicoot series characters, though only eight are available initially. Throughout the races, players can use power-ups to increase speed and gain an advantage. The game was released in North America on October 19, 1999, and in Europe on October 20, 1999. Critics praised the game's gameplay and graphics, despite mixed opinions on the audio. A sequel, Crash Nitro Kart, was released in 2003 for various gaming platforms. In 2019, a remastered version of the game, titled Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, following its announcement at The Game Awards 2018.
